The Silver Coyote Colloidal Silver Generator
The Rant
Coyote Zenterprizes; Colloidal Silver Generator
http://silverpuppy.com

Specs;
LED indicator..if it's lit, it's running and working. LED indicates current going between the electrodes through a resistive medium.[WATER?] If not, check all connections.

Current Controlled Output
... at 1 milliamp for the Series 2 thermal stir [Was .7 ma for the old models] This generator will not shock you and shorting the electrodes together will not harm the generator.

Voltage Limited...to 36v internal, approximately 32 volts [with no load] at the silver electrodes at startup depending on water quality and temperature.

Automatic Shutoff... turns unit off when comparator circuit detects conductivity parameter in the water indicating approximately 15-20 microsiemens [uS] of conductivity. [This is not always the same thing as PPM] Shutoff can be tested using tap water.

Auto-off bypass switch...allows use of bad water and enables one to make CS a strong as they dare.

Output Mode Select..switch between S.W.A.P. [Low Frequency Alternating Current] and the more traditional Direct Current. More

Resetting is accomplished by unplugging the unit, , then re powering. [Power off reset]

Electrode set...Sturdy easily interchangeable 7" x 12gauge loops .9999 fine silver. [Really thick 10 gauge electrodes available]

Power Requirements...This "Generator" will work on anything over 9 volts and under 36 volts AC or DC. Polarity issues are resolved by the internal circuitry. A 12v , 24v solar cell array / battery charger /cell phone/ cordless drill/ video camera batteries/ up to 3 car batteries in series/ between 2 and 4 nine volt batteries plugged into each other...all will do. Only the process time will vary.

Stirrers require the appropriate input voltage for that particular stir system. The generators will 'work' without a stirrer.

Warrantee;...30 day all money back for any reason...or no reason, Free replacement or repair one year from date of purchase. The following may void warrantee but I may repair at no charge anyway.

Caution/ Warnings and maintenance;
1] Bending loose fitting wire electrodes while in the sockets may damage the holding capacity of the socket. [Rotating them in the sockets is OK. Electrodes that have adapters installed or are the correct diameter won't harm socket spings if they are bent in the socket...un-adapted wire will.]

If it requires bending electrodes to get them parallel, bend near the socket. When you switch sides, the electrodes won't be parallel anymore. Rotating them both 180 degrees in the sockets is the cure for that.

2] Immersion of unit in water resulting in corrosion or short circuiting. [running the generator while wet] If you run the generators with the water touching the plastic, it will eventually silver pale the plastic and short out the generator. [This won't "hurt" the generator, but it won't run right until the silver is cleaned off...and that's not easy.]

3] Placing generator upside down with electrodes still in causes conductive CS to run into the socket housing. Now, I've been watching a few careless individuals do that for years and no problems have developed "yet"...BUT..it's just not a good idea.

4] Storing the generator on a wet container exposes componants to constant moisture which will condense inside the socket housing and may eventually corrode the sockets to the point that contact with the electrodes can get 'iffy'.

Running the generator on a hot plate such as found on a coffee maker may distort the socket platform. Do not exceed 110 degrees F. {Yup. One guy made a pancake out of his whole generator by leaving it on the stove. I replaced it}

Covering damages from abuse, under warrantee, is at my discretion.
["At my discretion" means that you'll probably have to irritate me pretty badly before I refuse you a favor. It's simply me covering my bottom end from unwarranted spankings. Fairness must rule.]

While the design isolates the electrode socket area from the electronic components from any reasonable invasion of liquid, it is possible to get the components wet if the unit is submerged and seals aren't always "perfect" over long periods of exposure. If you spill the unit over or the components otherwise get wet...let it dry completely before running. If you suspect that CS water got into the component area or electrode socket area, rinse everything out by submerging the affected portion of the unit in distilled water, shake out what will shake out and allow to dry completely before running a batch. If the unit is run with conductive CS water splashed onto the sockets or if run with sockets submerged [container too full], electrolytic corrosion may occur and contamination of the batch from component metals is likely. If you suspect that this has happened, rinse the socket area with distilled water and allow it to dry, before running a batch.

All "componants" are waterproof...BUT..may not work properly till the spaces between them are dry.

Sockets are somewhat subject to eventual corrosion if they 'stay' wet.

Allowing silver water to dry on plastic surfaces will stain them.

Includes;
Automatic Processing Unit [The "Generator"]
Plug-in-Wall Power Supply
12 gauge .999 fine silver electrode loops 7" in total linear length [most send you thinner 16 gauge rods]

Thermal stir base [Spot Heater/lamp] or Magnetically Coupled Stir base

Fits small/standard mouth canning jars and many other containers.

Instructions and various information.

Instructions and Comments;
1) Fill container or just below the lowest edge of the unit when it is placed in the container with pure distilled water. [ Do not use any salt as this will form silver chloride and WILL definitely prevent the generator from running.]
This process is similar to hydrolysis of water and results in some splitting of water into it's components, Hydrogen and Oxygen. The Hydrogen will form small bubbles around one electrode and the oxygen will combine with some of the silver forming silver oxides. This is a black or brownish substance that will mainly stay on one of the electrodes. It has no charge and what doesn't stick settles to the bottom and sticks to the glass. It is easily cleaned off with a 'Scotch brite' [tm] pot scrubber, but will not generally pour out with the colloid water. [Simply wiping off loose stuff with a piece of cloth etc is all that's needed]

Do not stir with electrodes unless you clean them first.

Do swap the electrodes from side to side between batches. [Random placement is good enough] [S.W.A.P. output selection eliminates the need to do this, but you should still remove the electrodes before storing]

Take Note: While it's not likely that water will enter the stirrer housing in the event of a spill, be aware that electricity and water can be a dangerous combination. All electrical appliances used in the proximity of water should be used with a CFCI protected outlet.[Ground Fault Interrupter Circuit] Always be sure the power is disconnected before moving anything.

If the generator shuts down fairly quickly, the water is not very pure. [See "Water Test"] You can still continue by using with the "auto off" disabled [Switch in "manual" position] and running a timer. The current controls will ensure about .23 PPM [calculated] per oz of water, per minute [Quality may vary if it's made very strong or water is not good]

The LED [light on top]
The LED only lights up when there is current flowing between the electrodes..will NOT be lit if the electrodes are not in the water.
At first, the LED will be lit in both auto and manual mode.
After the generator shuts itself down, the LED will only light up in manual mode.
To enable auto mode again, [reset] disconnect power momentarily. ['Sometimes' flicking the switch will reset the generator but that is not a reliable way to do it]

PPM and Time
Typical time for batches run in Automatic mode will be approximately 45 minutes to 2 hrs per 8 oz of water.
If the time is less than that, test the water. More? The water is very good or there are very thick deposits on the electrodes.

Batch times while running in SWAP mode may be quite a bit longer. [But what's time if you spend it somewhere else?]

"Seeding" the distilled water with a little CS water will shorten processing time. I have observed that preheating the water to around 100 deg will shorten the processing time but if heated too much will sometimes result in a yellowish color in the solution.

Upon storing the yellowish product in a clear glass container, I have noticed it depositing on the glass of the storage container turning the glass yellow and a clear CS pours out. The clear suspension can "sometimes" turn pale yellow in clear glass storage due to excessive agglomeration. [crystalization]. A pale yellow colloid is still OK. Any other color...toss it or use it topically.

I've also discovered that placing a small piece of copper in the container for a few days will remove color as it gathers black oxide deposits, but it also eventually pulls ALL of the silver out of the water.

Many people put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide [3%] in their silver water to clear up any color and to make particles even smaller.

I go for the clear product with a metallic flavor.

Color:
Any color other than violet , red or green is OK. No color is best. Pale yellow is next best..still very good.
Various environmental factors and contaminants can make CS turn colors.
Adding 1 drop 3% Hydrogen Peroxide per 4-8 oz to colored CS breaks the particles apart and clears out the color. Using less takes longer.
Many people say that adding Peroxide to any CS makes it work better, but don't "start" a batch with CS that has Peroxide in it.

Pour some of the batch into a seperate container to see if its ready to add peroxide to.

"WHEN" you add Peroxide makes a big difference.

Before stabilization: [Very fresh], a VERY small amount will flash the batch cloudy white, more- cloudy brown...even more- clear again.

After stabilization: No discernable effect unless it has gone yellow or some other color.

Highly particulate colorless CS will pick up room colors like there were billions of tiny mirrors in there, especially yellow. To see if it's really yellow or just reflecting color, hold the batch up to a window away from nearby objects or take it outside and look through it.
Colloidal particles won't always form right away. Some of the Ionic silver will convert to Colloidal Silver in time and the TE [laser light beam] will become more pronounced later on. The stronger you make it, the higher the percentage of particles there will be.
If you see "sparklies" in the laser beam, they are generally deposits that have come loose from the electrodes or dust particles. They settle out fast and mostly self destruct.

Deposits:
The silver slick you may see sometimes, comes from the transfer of plateout off one of the electrodes transferring to the surface tension of the water when the electrodes are removed.
One electrode releases oxygen into the water and the other releases hydrogen.
White deposits are Silver Hydroxide made when silver ions contact hydrogen.
Black deposits are Silver Oxide made when Silver Ions contact oxygen.

Fluffy deposits are generally silver particles trapped in hydrogen bubbles. They dissipate over time for the most part.

While unsightly, none of these deposits are harmful. They can be removed by allowing the water to sit for a several hours and pouring off the top 7/8ths or so.

The ion emission rate when using constant current "DC" is essentially linear. Before the generator attains its full regulated current, ion emmission rates can be much much less. This is why times vary with water quality.
When the LED is at full brightness, the regulated current has been achieved. Shorting the electrodes together with a spoon or immersing them in tap water will tell you how bright that is. Auto off function can also be tested in this manner.
The auto off gives you a starting point to use a timer but the final PPM is relative to conductivity 'after' the silver water stabilizes 15 to 20 hours later and that stabilization is volume dependent. So different sized batches have to be run differently to get to the same place when all is said and done, but every batch done the same will be the same. [more]

Using the S.W.A.P. output selection adds another time related variable to the mix. Using a clock in S.W.A.P. mode will be specific to your generator. "Auto Off" works the same.

To make CS stronger than "Plug n' Play": [20 PPM target], uS [Microsiemens] is a unit of conductivity.
1st way:
1] After Generator shuts down, remove electrodes from water and wipe.
2] Let the batch sit overnight
3] Unplug and replug for reset and allow to run till shutdown again.
When the generator won't stay running for more than a few minutes in stabilized CS, you're there.
Quarts may require doing this 3 times.

2nd way: [faster]
After the auto off triggers, throw switch to the manual "DC" position and continue at 1.7 uS [approximate PPM] per oz, per minute. [S.W.A.P. is slower but neater..get a COM-100 meter]

Using the inverted funnel technique to channel thermal currents makes both pints and quarts come close to the 20 PPM target first time...between 17 and 19. [more]

The CS "sometimes" goes pale yellow after a few days though. If this happens, use a 4 watt bulb instead of the supplied 7 watt bulb. See using 'Hydrogen Peroxide' [more]

.Haven't had enough yet?...even MORE!

DISCLAIMER:
I can make no recommendations for the use of this product...do your own research and be your own judge of what is best for you. I state only what I have done or what I heard was done..not what you should do. Coyote Zenterprizes and associates make no claim other than producing a quality CS generator.

Any comment as to the use of Colloidal Silver is to be considered as "hearsay" and "opinion"...NOT FACT. [which doesn't mean opinions are OR aren't facts]

I have searched the FDA websites[con] as well as many others [pro] and have found no specific cases of harm coming to the user of colloidal silver....NONE. The FDA promotes links to one disgruntled woman [Rosemary] who turned blue. [argyria...the only major indication of toxicity in regard to silver use in any conceivable amount ...a permanent, unsightly, but harmless skin condition] This woman abused a prescribed nasal spray for years, back in the fifties. There is nothing but an IMPLIED statement that this nasal spray was in a colloidal form. It could have been any number of silver compounds used back then, most likely silver nitrate. I have found no references to [specifically] electro colloidal silver [bredig sol] ever having caused this condition.

Update: Recently [2002] there was a Libertarian candidate who did develop a slight case of argyria after using his 'brew' every day for 3 years [Stan Jones].

Here's the story as told by him.....

A further search revealed various studies done by various labs concerning silver 'compounds'. The heading title says they were "Colloidal Silver" studies. EACH study specified the substance used and NONE OF THEM were electro-colloidal silver...ALL were various silver compounds, most injected in massive doses equivalent to consuming many gallons of 10 PPM electro-colloidal silver every hour for days on end for several years.
This publication is MISLEADING and INACCURATE. Thank you FDA, for your protection.
FDA rules call for triple blind experiments to be conducted in order for an over the counter drug to be approved. This costs upwards of $100 million. NO pharmaceutical company is going to spend $100 million to prove that their very expensive pet anti pathogens are 'not as' or 'are as' effective as something that anyone can make at home for as little as 5 cents a gallon. No one who wants cheap remedies, or wants to sell them, has $100 million dollars to spend. They cannot compete with you in your own home. They cannot sell you something that you can make for 5 cents for $500. [unless you're a darned fool] Perhaps the FDA should prove that Colloidal Silver [defined as: "Pure silver particles suspended in pure water..and nothing else"], is NOT safe and effective.

Due to OVERWHELMINGLY positive feedback and anecdotal evidence, I don't think they can. I think the burden of proof is on the FDA, in this case.

OK, FDA, where's YOUR $100 million that says we 'shouldn't' do something that seems to work without side effects or appreciable expense.
How about we don't call Colloidal Silver water a drug..or even a supplement? It's just 'rusty' tasting water from silver pipes..sorta. You can drink any flavor of water you want. All the benefits are only miracles and magic. If miracles and magic works? Well?....OK!
Granted...some sort of standards should be in place for re sellers and generator suppliers should know that their machines produce a product that meets those standards. I have tested some generators that produce a product that "I wouldn't wash YOUR mouth out with" [Much less suggest that you swallow it] YUK!!
[PS, I'm not telling anyone what sort of water to, or not to drink]

From what I gather, the EPAs own daily maximum intake of silver is vastly more than what a user of colloidal silver would absorb ..unless s/he simply threw caution to the wind. Drinking a full bathtub full of water can be harmful too. I have heard of people in Hawaii drinking a strong preparation by the liter to knock out dysentery. Well, maybe OK now and then, but I'd get nervous about an extreme like this on any sort of regular basis. My personal rule of thumb for a maximum intake is to not exceed 1/4 cup three times a day and skip a few days every now and then..if there is some specific reason to do so, generally taking many more days off than on depending upon how I'm feeling at the time. My rule is totally arbitrary and not based on any information whatever..call it personal intuition or simply unreasonable caution. Generally, I limit my intake to 2 or 3 swallows per day unless there's some specific reason to do otherwise...like the onset of cold or flu. Two swallows per day has resulted in my toenail fungus clearing up...well, mostly.. [placebo effect? Send me more placebos!] But using it as a mouthwash definately has my denstist going broke. There are reports stating that daily use for more than ten days may kill the florae in the stomach. [Update...myth...just ain't so. The florae is in the intestine and CS has little effect on anything if it's trapped in a semi solid. Now, If that intestinal content gets flushed out by, say, dysentary or food poisoning..CS works wonders very quickly and you might need some acidopholis] The recommended remedy, so I note, is to take acidopholis in pill or milk form. Personally, if I had an infection that lasted more than ten days..it's doctor time.

The issue of colloidal silver is a very highly charged one, Big drug companies vs 'New Age' alternative treatments. Where someone stands to lose or gain a great deal of market share, no information base will be absolutely true. However, if there were even one disgruntled person harmed SPECIFICALLY by ELECTRO COLLOIDAL silver of any quality, true or not, [people just love to complain] I assume it would be all over the net. I haven't found one yet, after surfing over 2,000 web pages...not even ONE! [ OK, so I found one, but Stan Jones is not disgruntled. He knows he went way out of his way to do something unreasonable and ill informed] "Studies" show that the colloidal form of silver does not accumulate in the system and kills over 650 disease organisms. "Studies"? The studies are well documented, but considering that they are published exclusively on the 'pro' side of the issue leaves some room for doubt. I have yet to encounter any credible studies, at all, on the 'con' side. Could it be that nothing truthful can be said on the 'con' side?

"Kills over 650 disease organisms" Ok, well, maybe. Yes, just maybe it does.
Be careful. Pay attention.

Personal Experiences with CS

I have run many test batches in the past year [97]or so while developing the circuitry in my
CS generator, sampling each batch and taking a gulp whenever the mood strikes.

I have not had so much as a sniffle all this time. Presently [1/5/2000], 3 out of 5 of the
people closest to me have that nasty flu.....in spite of flu shots. The 2 of us that don't
have the flu, sip CS every now and then and haven't had flu shots. So far so good.

[As of 11/19/99 still nary a sniffle in nearly 2 yrs ]

[1/2/2000 ...still nothing] [as of 4/25/00, 'possible' onset of strep. Knocked out in 1 1/2 days with CS mist]

[As of 1/01...oops, caught a cold! Didn't last long though and I never felt sick...just a stuffy nose]

So far 1/01 NO CAVITIES OR PLAQUE!!! This is highly unusual for me. Dentist is mystified.

[AS of 1/03 dental watch spots filled for no good reason except to "put them to bed" and stop watching them do nothing. Dentist sounding like a broken record. "But Doc, I told you what I was doing diffferent" [and it's not flouride]..uh, oh yea. the silver stuff.

Got a big stye from a piece of sawdust and cured it in 2 days. Ripped off two big chunks of skin on the back of my hand and pasted em back on with CS applied on a paper tower till the bleeding stopped...no infection whatever!!! Even the old skin patch turned pink like a babys bottom and it all healed up 20 times faster than similar wounds...maybe 50 or 100 times faster..I dunno, it was amazing! First wound 5 days and no sign of injury. Second occasion, bigger wound and less skin to stick on. That took about a week or so [as opposed to the normal 4 to 6 weeks]

I don't remember being sick in a long time...maybe a sniffle? Dragged out for a day or two ? I dunno, I don't recall.

I sent some samples, privately, to a Pharmaceutical Research chemist in hope of
sneaking them through their electron microscope to verify particle size. Well, it was a
"no go", {as in, I can't do that..wrong tool}, but he said, " The indications [whatever that is. I
presume it means ' medical properties or potentials'] look 'interesting' "
I'll not name the person or company for obvious conflict of interest reasons but I will say
he is a respected mainstream Dr Fudd. [Dr. / P.H.D]

Update 1/03: He's researching "nano particles" now. Hummmm

My big toe which had been completely taken over by toenail fungus for 5 years showed
major signs of remission. I showed it to an MD friend who said , That's almost unheard
of...very unusual without treatment. However, after bashing my toe with a 3lb hammer,
the fungus is back in charge along with a black underside. I presume the injury
interrupted the blood flow to the nail thus making the colloidal silver unavailable.
{update; Six weeks later...nail showing fairly clear growth again at 2 tablespoons of CS
twice a day} {update; 11/19/99, only a thin ridge at the end of toenail showing any signs of fungus}{Update: 4/25/00, left big toe completely healed, right big toe..moderate improvement.} {Update 1/03 well, it's back, but not nearly as bad and the nail is somewhat brownish, but still looks like a nail where ,before, it looked like an alien had upchucked on it...see "see also" link}

Update 2/04. Well, the fungus very slowly took over again. Other people with nails that aren't like thick sheets of antler have had better luck.

I hear that the established 'cure' for toenail fungus has liver damage , extreme nausea
and so on as possible side effects. I think I'd rather have an ugly toe.
Several of my friends have tried the traditional medicine approach to curing toenail
fungus with limited success, expenses exceeding $1,000 and "feeling like they were
gonna die" for 9 months. My toenail is [well...was] healing [about 75% as of 10/06/99] with NO
noticeable side effects, at a cost of about $1.00. I'm not kidding!

A 30year ongoing battle with ringworm flare ups has become very rare and the limited
flare ups that still do occur have been short lived.
I have not have much success with topical application of CS, perhaps because there is no
way I can keep it applied. Maybe making a gelatin with CS water would work better?
There's always room for Jello...yes that IS strawberry on my face. Add it to Hand
cream? [Found a clue: tape CS soaked cotton onto the area.]

My occasional nasal infections?/sinus pains seem to be effectively relieved even when
allergic response is suspected. [The famous North Carolina "Yellow Hell" days of
spring pine pollination... actually, it's the invisible oak and poplar pollen that gives the
sneezy scratchies] I gave a CS filled nasal sprayer to a friend who has much problem
with sinus pain. He did a test comparing plain water to CS water. He said plain water
worked, but only for about a half hour, whereas, CS water worked for 6 hours.
It works for me too.

My dad has recurring impacted tooth flare ups. He used CS water as a mouthwash for
4 days instead of going on an antibiotic regimen as usual. The inflammation subsided
but he still had some soreness, so he decided to do the antibiotics. The soreness
remained. Apparently the CS water did everything the antibiotics would have done.
The soreness subsided with time indicating it resulted from damage already done by
the infection.

Some people I have given samples to swear CS reduces itch from insect bites. I can't
figure out why it would, but, if it works?.... I never noticed that effect, but then, most
insect bites don't itch me and they seem to bite them instead of me. I guess I'm an
insensitive clod with no taste. [2007 I took some CS gel to a music festival aid station 'Best thing we've seen for tick bites" ]

I recently went in for a dental checkup. The Dentist asked me what I was doing
differently. The "watch spots" [places for potential cavity development] had not
changed at all or had improved. I had ZERO plaque buildup. I had been swishing that 2
tablespoons a day..taken directly after brushing my teeth...in my mouth for a few
minutes before swallowing. [update...another checkup on Sept 1 /99..still no cavities or
plaque] [Update; 4/25/00, still no cavities or plaque] [Update 1/2001...still nothing] [update 1/03 see above] [as of 04..nothing new]

4/00] Rollyn [a friend] reports that the plaque on his teeth is literally falling off. He went to the doctor and discovered he had tetanus ...but he wasn't sick.

A friend of mine had a sore throat and I gave him a small spry bottle of CS. He was also scheduled to have a huge cavity filled.

When he got to the dentist a few days later, the dentist took one good look and exclaimed, " I've never seen anything like this! It's DEAD!"

What's dead? My TOOTH!!???

Nooo, the bacterial colony is dead and there's nothing in the hole but clean bone..Amazing!

Negatives first

Examine at all the pages and note discrepancies in terminology. The lady with argyria
most likely was not using modern process "electro" colloidal silver. This story is also
linked from the FDA website which links to toxicology studies as well, that places
colloidal silver in a fairly harmless/ "nontoxic" category. Read the GOV'T studies
carefully...they are written in a somewhat misleading manner...mixed contexts,
inaccurate titles, [apples and oranges sort of deception] etc. [KD'C]
http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/PhonyAds/silverad.html

http://www.epa.gov/iris/subst/0099.htm0099.htm
Agaria reports from EPA. The only mention of COLLOIDAL silver is in the title and or first paragraph. ALL
other references to silver causing argyria specify a chemical silver compound. Elecro colloidal silver is not a chemical compound. It is a pure silver suspended in distilled water by it own electrical charge. No mention of the TYPE OR PROCESS of colloid is mentioned in ANY of the gov't studies that I have found. Apparently and according to 'them', ground up silver dust suspended in water with the help of a protein apparently qualifies as colloidal silver. That's a very large particle indeed and may well build up in the body system! Also, the daily doses they describe are generally enormous and applied over a period of time, often by direct injection AND they only studied [reported?] cases of people who developed argyria...not those who did not...nor were there any indications at all of just how many developed the condition as opposed to how many did not, even at very high doses of SILVER COMPOUNDS.

see fda.html

It seems they just don't address the topic of electro colloidal silver at all and dodge over into "silver compounds" in doses big enough to make bathroom mirrors for the Empire state building while leaving you with the IMPRESSION that they have stayed on topic. [Ok, I exaggerated...try, Federal Department of Smoke and Mirrors.."Official" building ..which is not that big. The "unofficial" building is huge but the location is obscured by smoke and mirrors]

Futhermore, I have yet to find references to ANY blue people who had been making thier own or buying and using Electro Colloidal Silver, regardless of quality or dose. Electro colloidal silver has been made by individuals or bought and experimented with in an uncontrolled fashion by thousands and thousands of individuals for at least 20 years. People just LOVE to complain. The Web is a wonderful place to vent. Where are the complaints, valid or not? I have searched and searched. I have found not even one. [Found 'one' as of 1/03..see Stan Jones above]
